What Is Plate Glass Insurance?
Plate Glass Insurance is a section under a Business Insurance Package where you have the option to insure for Internal & External Glass Covers. This cover standardly allows for up to $10,000 per claim. Signage is also included in this cover automatically.
How Much Does Glass Insurance Cost?
Glass Insurance is a very cheap cover to have that can protect you for up to $10,000 worth of damaged glass; internal or external of your business.
The premium usually ranges from $150 to $400 a year.
If you insure your Glass cover as part of a larger business package policy, you could find that the cost to add Glass Insurance is cheaper than having Glass Insurance by itself.

Glass forming shelves, interior showcases, fixed mirrors, frames of showcases, display cabinets and counters.
External Glass
Glass or plastic material used as Glass fixed in external windows, doors, showcases or skylights forming part of the building, and any ceramic tiled shop fronts.
Is Glass Insurance Mandatory?
Glass Insurance is not mandatory but if you are signing a commercial lease, it will state that as part of your lease agreement you will need to insure for Public Liability of $20,000,000, Plate Glass, and also your contents, stock and fitout. In some occassions, you may also have to insure for Business Interruption too.
